“Aqua Fission transforms water from a vulnerability into a controllable asset, supporting defense readiness.”

Defense and National Security Applications

For millenia, military operations have depended on reliable access to clean water. From forward operating bases and disaster response missions to permanent installations and shipboard support, water availability is a critical dependency that often creates logistical risk, cost exposure, and operational vulnerabilitu.

Aqua Fission was designed to reduce that risk by enabling secure, on-site production of clean water from contaminated, saline, or otherwise unusable sources, without reliance on fragile supply chains.

Reducing logistical burden and supply chain exposure

Transporting potable water is expensive, inefficient, and operationally risky. Convoys carrying water are vulnerable targets, consume fuel and manpower, and divert resources away from core mission objectives. Bottled water supply chains are similarly fragile, particularly in contested, remote, or disaster-impacted environments.

Aqua Fission enables defense forces to generate clean water at or near the point of use, dramatically reducing dependence on:

  • Water trucking and convoy operations
  • Bottled water logistics
  • Long supply lines vulnerable to disruption
  • Single-source infrastructure dependencies

By converting locally available water into mission-ready water, Aqua Fission strengthens operational resilience and simplifies logistics planning.

Producing clean water from contaminated and degraded sources

Defense operations frequently encounter water sources that are unsafe due to contamination, salinity, or environmental damage. These may include:”

  • Brackish groundwater and coastal aquifers
  • Contaminated wells and boreholes
  • Industrial or chemical wastewater near bases or ports
  • Water impacted by fuel, oils, heavy metals, or PFAS
  • Radiologically contaminated groundwater or surface water
  • Post-disaster or conflict-damaged water supplies

Aqua Fission uses a deep-vacuum, low-temperature thermodynamic distillation process that separates clean water from contaminants rather than filtration. This allows it to treat water sources that conventional systems cannot reliably handle.

Because contaminants do not evaporate with the water, salts, heavy metals, PFAS, microplastics, hydrocarbons, and many radioactive species remain in the residual concentrate, while the recovered water is physically separated and suitable for potable, operational, or process use.

Resilience in contested and austere environments

Aqua Fission systems are modular, skid-mounted, and deployable in fixed, mobile, or containerized configurations. This makes them well suited for:

  • Forward operating bases
  • Expeditionary deployments
  • Remote installations
  • Naval and port-side operations
  • Humanitarian assistance and disaster response

Low operating temperatures and deep-vacuum efficiency reduce energy demand, enabling operation with grid power, generators, waste heat, or solar and other renewable energy sources. This flexibility supports operations where fuel and power availability are constrained.

Eliminating secondary waste and environmental liabilities

Conventional water treatment systems rely on membranes, resins, or filter media that foul quickly and become hazardous waste when treating contaminated water. Reverse osmosis systems also generate large volumes of contaminated brine that must be disposed of or transported.

Aqua Fission operates as a zero-liquid-discharge platform. There is no continuous wastewater discharge and no consumable media that becomes contaminated waste. Residual contaminants are captured in a controlled, concentrated output suitable for regulated handling, minimizing environmental footprint and compliance risk.

Supporting force health and readiness

Reliable access to clean water directly supports force health, medical operations, food preparation, hygiene, and equipment maintenance. By producing consistent, high-quality water on site, Aqua Fission reduces health risks associated with degraded water sources and ensures continuity of operations under uncertain conditions.

Strategic value for defense planners

For defense organizations focused on resilience, self-sufficiency, and operational independence, Aqua Fission provides:

  • Reduced logistical risk and cost
  • Improved survivability of supply chains
  • Enhanced flexibility in base siting and mission planning
  • Capability to operate in contaminated or degraded environments
  • Alignment with environmental stewardship and compliance objectives

Aqua Fission transforms water from a vulnerability into a controllable asset, supporting defense readiness in an increasingly complex operational landscape.
